Building a Body of Work
At one point or another most artists aspire to creating a series or a body of work for their own enrichment or for a show. Working in a series can be a source of tremendous growth and satisfaction for a painter. This month’s lessons will focus on developing a series.
Choosing
The first step in creating a body of work is choosing a subject or intention! This lesson will help you clarify and set a course.
Gathering
Once you’ve chosen a direction, many decisions can now fall in service to that intention. In this lesson we will focus on planning and organizing around this intention.
Starting
Mastering the disinclination to work and conquering the 3 P’s will be our focus. Making working a practical practice will be a goal.
Maintaining
Staying focused and engaged in the art making process and enjoying the fruits of your labors will be this lessons intent. How to self-critique and get much needed validation?
SUPPLEMENTAL VIDEOS
These videos will extend your understanding of the key concepts presented this month. Spend some time with these. Some of them are YouTube videos available to the public but they fit nicely with our study, so I wanted you to be aware of them and take a look.
